I'm comfortable enough in my own skin to live with it if there isn't a safe / affordable alternative. I hear about the side effects of propecia/rogaine which absolutely freak me out. With all the bad news out there about those two, are there any good alternatives? Man that's some serious shit, I guess I could afford it but that's a big deal and I would need to do it within the next ~year before anyone really starts to notice. Main worries are 1) it SUCKS to go bald young, 2) will get laid less (my perception at least, especially if i allow this to affect my confidence), 3) don't know how it could affect my career advancement (you hear the studies about how men with hear are more successful though i'm sure most of that is bs and there are so many other factors involved) and 4) i have an ugly shaped head, nicely covered up by my hair... From this thread "how much damage has banking done to your life" a few users (@Hatting, @Nuck Futs @dick_fluid, @Embiv and @Calendars) had some really helpful comments: Alopecia is the medical term for hair loss. You're probably genetically predisposed to lose your hair and this is called Androgenic Alopecia. To give a very simple explanation, your hair falls out because your hair follicles are sensitive to a hormone called DHT, which is a biproduct of testosterone. You should get on Finasteride or Dutasteride (a stronger version of Finasteride), which prevents your hair loss from progressing by blocking the conversion from testosterone to DHT and maybe even grow some of it back. Side effects are very rare if you have read some of longer studies - we're talking 1-2% with erectile dysfunction. You start to notice your friends’ eyes darting up to your hairline. You feel marked out, as if the gene gods have tagged you as defective and old before your time. I was 17 when I noticed the hair on my temples was receding. It was disconcerting but felt okay—until it didn’t feel okay. There came a point when there was just too much of my head showing, when my faithful hairstyle became tenuous. I felt that everyone, much to my unending embarrassment, must have noticed. An American friend told me that my once full and floppy fringe had started looking wispy at 22. A girl who liked me was teased by a friend on Facebook because of my receding hairline and either didn’t know or didn’t care that I would read it. Six months later, it looked worse, and six months after that, worse still.
Frederick Ljunberg…Soccer Player for Team Sweden and Calvin Klein Model See…Frederick Ljunberg has the right idea. He is a case of someone who actually looks better with the buzz cut. He was completely bald on top and had hair just on the side and back of his head. He kind of looks like a freak with a full head of hair. If you are over 50 and don’t really care about your appearance, then this can work for you. If you are younger then you really don’t want to shoot for this look at all! Yes…their preference is for guys with thick heads of hair! Their second preference as far as hair goes is bald or buzzed. The look they dislike the most is the “partially bald look” or bad hair plugs. Quite a Few Women Do Find Many Bald Guys Attractive Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeves, David Beckham, Andre Agassi, Bruce Willis, and Kelly Slater have all buzzed or shaved their heads at some point in their careers. Propecia received an overall rating of 9 out of 10 stars from 3 reviews. I almost gave up on my hair but Proscar 1.25 mg gave my life back. things haven't really changed, but more or less have just maintained my hairline from receding at all. Finasteride works well to slow or even stop hair loss. Some people have an excellent response to this medications that lasts their entire life. In others it works.
